Field excavations will take place in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra's Metropolitan Garden.

The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve invites veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to participate in field archaeological excavations in the Metropolitan Garden of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

Serhiy Taranenko, the deputy head of the archaeology department of the reserve, announced this on his Facebook page.

The work with veterans will be part of the "Spiritual Rehabilitation through Culture" program. As the initiators of the program stated, its goal is to provide moral and spiritual support to defenders after the war.

This year, the activities will include trimming the excavation made in 2023 and continuing the study of the glassmaking complex of the 11th-12th centuries in the Metropolitan Garden.

"If veterans are entrusted to us, then, as in the previous year, we will have our official consultant – my colleague from the UK, Richard Osgood, who has more than 10 years of experience working with veterans on excavations," Taranenko noted.

As the UOJ reported, the Ministry of Culture stated that UOC monks must vacate the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, otherwise it will be done by force in a month.
