At a meeting with the Metropolitan of Canada, the Ombudsman asked for assistance in uniting Ukrainian Orthodoxy in the context of protecting Ukraine's independence.

Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubynets held a meeting with Metropolitan Hilarion of Canada (the Ecumenical Patriarchate) and requested assistance in uniting Ukrainian Orthodoxy in the context of protecting Ukraine's independence and sovereignty, according to the Ombudsman's Office Facebook page.

It is reported that during the meeting, Lubynets emphasized to the Canadian Metropolitan the need to strengthen the interaction between the Constantinople Patriarchate and Ukraine.

"Only through joint efforts can we achieve peace!" he stressed.

As the UOJ reported, the newly elected Patriarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, Daniel, criticized the actions of Patriarch Bartholomew in creating the OCU, stating that granting the Tomos led to increased persecution against the UOC.
