MinCult commission displeased with modern renovation at Pochaiv Lavra
The monastery’s press service stated they are facilitating the work of the Ministry’s commission, as the Church cares about proper preservation of the Orthodox shrine.
Olha Rutkovska, head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture's commission for inspecting the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra, stated that the commission and the fire service have some complaints regarding the monastery's maintenance, reports Suspilne.
"There are remarks, which are now being documented, from the commission members who inspected fire safety. There are specific requirements that must be met. We also have comments regarding modern renovations. All this requires documentation. An official request has been made by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy as part of the commission's work. We expect copies of the documents. We want to ensure that all the necessary documentation is in place," she said.
The press secretary of Pochaiv Lavra, Archimandrite Gabriel, stated that the monastery's brethren are assisting the work of the Ministry of Culture commission.
"This is in the interest of both the state and our monastic community to ensure that everything is maintained properly, to preserve this shrine as much as possible as a historical landmark," he underscored.
The commission's work will continue until June 29.
As previously reported by UOJ, the head of the Ministry of Culture commission stated that officials are inspecting and inventorying not only immovable objects.
