Korobchyno UOC community is transferred to OCU despite believers' protests
The community of the Assumption church in Korobchyno was transferred to the OCU, despite the appeals of parishioners to the local RMA.
The community of the Assumption Church of the UOC in the village of Korobchyno, Kirovohrad region, was transferred to the OCU. This was reported on October 4 by the local publication Novomyrgorod News.
Attempts to transfer the community began back in May, but then the rector, Archpriest Ioann Honcharuk, who has been serving in the parish for 25 years, opposed and sealed the church.
In June, believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church confirmed their loyalty to the UOC and appealed to the regional military administration with a request not to interfere in the situation.
However, the Regional Military Administration did not listen to the believers and “transferred” the temple to the OCU.
The report notes that “Bishop Mark Levkiv of Kropyvnytsia and Holovanivsk” will come to “serve” the first “service” in this church. The date of the "worship" is still unknown, as well as the name of the "priest" whom the OCU will appoint as "rector".
Earlier, the UOJ reported that in July 2022, representatives of the Kirovohrad RMA met with the parishioners of the church in Korobchyno, who told the authorities about the impending seizure of the church.
