Vatican responds to accusations against Pope by Ukraine

The Vatican has responded to accusations against the pontiff over his statement regarding the death of Russian journalist Darya Dugina.

The Vatican has responded to accusations against Pope Francis by Ukraine over his statement in which the pontiff lamented the death of Russian journalist Darya Dugina. The official statement of the press service is published on the Vatican website.

The press service said that the main purpose of the statements by the Pope and his entourage is "to call on pastors and believers to prayer, and all people of goodwill to solidarity and efforts to restore peace".

The Vatican also notes that the Pope's words regarding the death of Darya Dugina "should be seen as a voice raised in defense of human life and the values associated with it, and not as a political position."

The report said that Pope Francis' statements on the war in Ukraine broken out by Russia "are unequivocal in condemning it as morally unjust, unacceptable, barbaric, senseless, disgusting and blasphemous".

We remind you that the pontiff said that the journalist killed in Russia was an innocent victim of the war.

As earlier reported, the Ukrainian Ambassador to the Vatican criticized the Pope for his words about the murdered journalist, followed by the apostolic nuncio summoned to the Foreign Ministry to express dissatisfaction with the RCC head’s statement.
