Head of Greek Church on recognition of OCU: We are one family with Phanar
Representatives of the World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association have pledged to support the Orthodox Church of Greece.
Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece said the Orthodox Church of Greece is one family with the Patriarchate of Constantinople, according to the Greek edition Romfea.
During the meeting with members of the World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association, Archbishop Ieronymos noted the "special and important work" they are doing.
President of the World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association Leonidas Raptakis noted that his organization "fights for all Greek issues."
“We are interested in issues of education, religion, geopolitics. We stand by your side in all matters and in all that concerns Hagia Sophia and many other issues,” Raptakis said and promised to support and help Greece and the Church of Greece.
In turn, Archbishop Ieronymos, discussing the recognition of the OCU, said that "we are one family with the Ecumenical Patriarchate."
The World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association (WHIA) is an organization created in 1996 at the initiative of the Greek government. It consists of current and former Greek MPs and aims to: a) communicate and develop the relations of these MPs with the Greek Parliament, b) strengthen friendship and cooperation with Greece and develop a common strategy on issues of Greek interest, and c) promote and spread the Greek culture and the Greek language.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Patriarch Bartholomew thanked the head of the GOC for supporting the OCU.
