Legoyda: The episcopate of Local Churches objects to the recognition of OCU
Vladimir Legoyda said that a lot of clerics of Local Churches do not agree with the recognition of the OCU.
The episcopate of the Local Churches does not agree with the recognition of the OCU. Vladimir Legoyda, Chairman of the Synodal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate for Church Relations with Society and the Media, spoke about this in an interview with TASS.
He noted that not a single new Local Church has recognized Ukrainian schismatics in the outgoing year. There were only declarations of the primates.
“It cannot be said that the Greek, Cypriot and Alexandrian Churches recognized the OCU. They did not make competent decisions on this issue, only the declaration of the primates. I know that a lot of clergy and episcopates of these Churches do not agree with the recognition of schismatics, they sympathize with the Ukrainians who, through the Phanar's ‘labors’, have gone through much suffering from extremists with the connivance of the authorities,” Legoyda said.
The head of the Synodal Department emphasized that the Church does not want to end relations with the Greek world, and the Greeks do not intend to do this either.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that not all Greek bishops support Hellenic nationalism.
