The head of the UGCC visited the Arseniy Yatseniuk Forum, where he spoke about his expectations from the visit of Pope Francis to Ukraine.

The head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Sviatoslav Shevchuk said that Pope Francis' visit to Ukraine is expected in the near future, which will be a signal of support from the Vatican, reports the Kyiv Security Forum website.

At the forum organized and held by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation on December 1, Shevchuk spoke about a conversation with the head of the Vatican, who expressed his interest in events in Ukraine. The head of the UGCC believes that the Pope's visit will be "a strong signal of support for our people and our state".

According to Shevchuk, he and representatives of some other religions in Ukraine have a feeling that after the visit of the head of Roman Catholics, the war in the Donbass will end. “We expect that his (Pope's – Ed.) visit to Ukraine will take place. This has not yet been announced, but we are already living in anticipation and preparation,” said the head of the Uniates.

As reported, Sviatoslav Shevchuk called the Phanar the Mother Church for the Uniates.
