Greek hierarch on pandemic: We'll no longer tolerate lies of authorities
Metropolitan Ieronymos reminded the authorities that Greece is an Orthodox country of saints and added that believers will no longer tolerate mockery of the Church.
Discussing the coronavirus pandemic, Metropolitan Ieronymos (Karmas) of Kalavryta and Aigialeia of the Orthodox Church of Greece said he no longer intended to tolerate the lies of those "who govern us," according to the Greek newspaper choratouaxoritou.gr.
On November 20, 2021, during a sermon, expressing his disagreement with the need to test believers at the doors of temples, Metropolitan Ieronymos declared that "those who govern us must understand that this is the Greece of the saints."
“The Greeks gave their blood to glorify the name of the Triune God. Enough mockery, we cannot allow members of the commission to stand at the door and wait for coronavirus tests," said Metropolitan Ieronymos.
He reminded that "until recently they said one thing, but yesterday they came to tell us another." "We can no longer live with this suffering, this ridicule, this lie. Let those who govern our country understand that Greece means Orthodoxy, and the Greeks are always united with Jesus Christ," the bishop stressed.
“What is a pandemic? It is a disease. We have been through so much. Repentance, confession is necessary. Kneel down and ask God for forgiveness. Until we do that, you know that these earthly things will torment us, because the devil has power in this world,” said the hierarch, addressing the believers.
He also expressed the opinion that today the Mother of God addresses Christians to say: “Enough! There is a limit!”
"Let us be taken to prison now, but we will no longer tolerate ridicule, we will no longer tolerate the lies of those who govern us," said Metropolitan Ieronymos.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the GOC hierarch strongly opposed the covid-tests at the door of the temple.
