In some regions of Ukraine, outbreaks of Russophobia stem from the historical conflict between Orthodox and Greek Catholics, said the Primate of the ROC.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus said in an interview with Russia 1 TV channel on the day of his 75th birthday that Russophobia is an artificial problem in many parts of Ukraine and will soon disappear from the agenda.

"In some regions (of Ukraine, outbreaks of Russophobia – Ed.) are historically-stipulated and stem from the historical conflict between Orthodox and Greek Catholics. In all other places it is a completely artificial problem, and I believe that it will soon disappear from the agenda in the near future," said Patriarch Kirill.

According to the Primate of the ROC, this will happen because "there is no reason to be confrontational around the issue that is not conflict-ridden as such."

As the UOJ previously reported, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus is 75 years old.
