UOC hierarch takes part in celebrations of Dorostoli Metropolis in Bulgaria

Met. Augustine (Markevich) concelebrated the festive liturgy at the Silistra Cathedral with the hierarchs of the Bulgarian, Romanian and Russian Orthodox Churches.

On October 10, 2021, the hierarch of the UOC, Metropolitan Augustine of Bila Tserkva and Boguslav, took part in the celebrations of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in Silistra on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the revival of the Dorostoli diocese, reports the website of the Dorostoli Metropolis.

The culmination of the celebrations was the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, led by Metropolitan Jacob of Dorostoli.

The Holy Liturgy was headed by Metropolitan Jacob of Dorostoli in concelebration with Metropolitan Augustine of Bila Tserkva and Boguslav, Cyprian of Stara Zagora, Gregory of Vratsa, Bishops Visarion of Tulcea, Eulogius of Adrianople, Zion of Wieliczka, Hierotheus of Agatopolis, and Archimandrite Vasian Zmeev) – the head of the Russian Metochion in Sophia, Archimandrite Basil – Protosingle of His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte, Archimandrite Nikanor, Archpriest Dobri Chakov – Protosingle of the Diocese of Dorostoli, Archdeacon Alexander, clergymen of the diocese, and guests.
The Ukrainian bishop congratulated the Metropolitan of Dorostoli on the solemn event and presented him with the distinctive sign of the Bila Tserkva diocese – the medal of the Rudoselska Icon of the 1st degree, and also presented a copy of the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God and a facsimile edition of the Lutsk Gospel of the XIV century, reports the website of the Russian Metochion in Sophia.

At the end of the Liturgy, the bishops and clergy performed a memorial service for the deceased Metropolitans Hilarion and Ambrose of Dorostoli.
