Zelensky tells the Pope Ukrainians are looking forward to his visit
The President of Ukraine believes that the meeting of Ukrainians with the head of the Vatican will be a fateful event.
In a telephone conversation with Pope Francis, President Vladimir Zelensky said that the Ukrainian people are waiting for the visit of the head of the Roman Catholic Church, the President's Office reports on its official website.
Zelensky stressed that the visit of the head of the Vatican "is anticipated, first of all, by the people of Ukraine", and it will be "oxygen that is so needed." The President repeated the invitation to Pope Francis to visit Ukraine and expressed his conviction that the meetings of the head of the RCC with the Ukrainians on Ukrainian land would be a fateful event.
Zelensky also thanked Pope Francis for his constant prayers for peace and calm in Ukraine. “We look forward to working with the Holy See and to your support in bringing peace to Donbas. The support of the world community and spiritual leaders is extremely important,” he added.
As reported by the UOJ, Zelensky thanked Pope Francis for “invariably sincere prayers for peace, in particular in eastern Ukraine,” and invited the head of the RCC to the festivities in honor of the 30th anniversary of Independence.
