Media claim possible eviction of UOC from Pochaiv Lavra after inspection
Journalists claim that inspections by the ministry's commission may become a reason to terminate the lease agreement with the Lavra.
Ukrainian media have started raising the issue of a possible eviction of the UOC from the Pochaiv Lavra in connection with inspections by the Ministry of Culture at the monastery. The corresponding article was published on 6 June 2024 on the Zaborona website.
The publication states that while the inspection by the Ministry of Culture does not necessarily mean the eviction of the UOC, it could become grounds for terminating the agreement with the brethren of the Pochaiv Lavra.
"Conducting the inspection itself does not mean the eviction of the Moscow Patriarchate: they are supposed to be carried out every few years, so this in itself is a standard procedure. However, if violations are found, this could become grounds for terminating the lease agreement, and after that, the eviction procedure could begin," the journalists speculate.
According to zaborona, the grounds could also include the results of law enforcement investigations. They remind readers that searches at the Pochaiv Lavra have been conducted at least twice.
As reported, the Ministry of Culture explained why they are conducting an inspection at the Pochaiv Lavra.
