The meeting of the Italian mayor and the priest of the UOC took place in Pompeii.

On 15 May in Italy, the assistant rector of the Transfiguration Cathedral of Odesa Archpriest Myroslav Vdodovych met with the mayor of Pompeii Carmine Lo Sapio. According to the press service of the Odesa Eparchy, the cleric of the UOC was invited to the meeting by the city mayor.

The priest thanked the mayor for his help in restoring the Savior Transfiguration Cathedral, which suffered from enemy shelling 9 months ago. He handed the mayor of Pompeii an exact copy of the Kasperov Icon of the Mother of God. Carmine Lo Sapio presented the cleric of the Odessa Eparchy with the coat of arms of the city.

The priest took part in the meeting with the blessing of Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa and Izmail.

The eparchy also continues its own fundraising for the restoration of the shrine.

As the UOJ wrote, Italy donated 500 thousand euros for the destroyed cathedral of the UOC in Odesa.
