According to MP Yurchyshyn, the anti-church bill should be passed now to prevent more discussions on the issue.

MP of Ukraine from the Holos party Yaroslav Yurchyshyn believes that the adoption of the Verkhovna Rada bill 8371, which will actually ban the UOC, is no longer a critical issue for the United States, he told the publication Glavcom.

“A number of Protestant Republicans were disoriented, but when our Protestants came and talked to them, it had its effect. Now for Americans, this topic is no longer so critical. On the contrary, it is much better to pass this law as soon as possible now, before there is some new critical story with macro-finance or something else, when the Russians will pull this card again and reach out to ultratrumpists to spin it. And the further it is postponed, the more difficult it will be to pass it, because the number of debatable issues will only increase,” Yurchyshyn said.

As reported by the UOJ, a source from the parliamentary mono-majority, on condition of anonymity, explained why the Verkhovna Rada is in no hurry to introduce Bill 8371, fearing that it will play into the hands of former President Poroshenko.
