Poturaev: I will propose to vote on UOC banning law before summer
A conciliation council will be convened in the Verkhovna Rada regarding Bill 8371.
Mykyta Poturaev, a Member of Parliament from the "Servant of the People" faction and Chairman of the parliamentary committee on humanitarian and information policy, told Telegraph in an interview that he would initiate the adoption of bill 8371 by the parliament, which would effectively ban the UOC, before the beginning of summer.
He stated that the bill is already fully prepared for voting.
"No one is holding it back anymore, it's ready to deliver. The committee has taken into account the remarks of the Ministry of Justice, the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience. When it's ready, the draft with amendments will appear on the website. And this will already mean that the Verkhovna Rada is ready to officially consider it," said the MP.
As reported by the UOJ, Robert Amsterdam, the head of the international human rights company Amsterdam & Partners LLP, stated that he had sent personal letters to the members of the Verkhovna Rada regarding the responsibility and personal sanctions for bill №8371, however, they avoided communication with lawyers.
