The Khmelnytskyi region is reported as a leader in re-registering UOC parishes to the OCU. However, most of the re-registrations are illegal and challenged in courts.

In the Khmelnytskyi region, authorities managed to "transfer" around 300 religious communities from the UOC to the OCU. This was reported during a briefing by Inna Mykhailova, the director of the Department of Information Activities, Culture and Religions of the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration, as reported by KhM-INSIDE.

"Mykhailova stated, 'Khmelnytskyi region has essentially shifted from being leaders in the number of communities affiliated with the UOC (MP) to being leaders in their departure from Moscow's affiliation. This process has intensified significantly since the start of full-scale invasion. Since the beginning of the war, almost 300 religious communities in our region have departed from Moscow's influence,'" the official reported.

According to her information, 268 of these communities "transitioned" to the OCU, while another 26 joined "independent churches". The official did not specify, however, what she meant by "independent churches".

Mykhailova added that the process of illegal re-registration in the region is ongoing. According to her, another 30 communities in the Khmelnytskyi region are planning to submit documents to "exit" from the UOC.

Previously, the UOJ wrote about what would happen if the Verkhovna Rada were to ban the UOC.
