Lawyer: The case against UOJ journalist is a political order
The lawyer describes the case against Valery Stupnitsky.
The lawyer of the UOJ journalist Valery Stupnitsky, who was arrested by the SBU, said that the content of the case against the journalist indicates a political order.
"The petition of the SBU investigator to choose a preventive measure and the notice of suspicion against Stupnitsky neither contain any references to evidence nor describes the very acts that the investigating authorities believe the suspect should have committed," the lawyer of the detained journalist said.
He emphasized that in fact, these procedural documents simply state that Stupnitsky was a member of an organized crime group, in which he allegedly justified the Russian Federation, as well as carried out actions aimed at inciting religious hatred.
At the same time, the investigating authorities did not substantiate what acts of Stupnitsky contained signs of high treason.
"All of the above indicates a political order and the desire of the authorities to eliminate people they do not want," the lawyer resumed.
As reported, the сourt left Fr. Sergiy Chertilin in custody for two months.
