Phanar Exarch: Celebrating Orthodox Easter with RCC is a step towards unity
The Bishop of Comana at a meeting with seminarians of the UGCC commented on the possibility of joint celebration of Easter by Catholics and Orthodox.
Bishop Michael of Comana, Exarch of the Phanar in Ukraine, commented on the possibility of joint celebration of Easter by Catholics and Orthodox Christians at a meeting with seminarians of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. The information was published on the website of the Kyiv Tridentine Seminary of the UGCC.
According to the exarch, for such joint celebration, "it is necessary, first of all, to prepare the church community, since there is a need for understanding both among laypeople and clergy, therefore there is a need for awareness-raising on ecumenism."
The bishop believes that "celebrating the greatest Christian feast, the Resurrection of Christ together, can be another step towards finding ways to restore unity."
Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to the exarch, after the bestowal of the Tomos, the confessions of Ukraine have drifted further apart from each other.
