To combat the COVID spread, the Kyiv authorities proposed to switch to broadcasting services on TV and on the Internet instead of parishioners’ participating in them.

Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Valentin Mondrievsky appealed to the religious communities of Kyiv with a request to suspend the holding of mass services to combat the spread of coronavirus, reports the official website of the Kyiv City State Administration.

“Considering the upcoming holidays, the city authorities asked religious organizations of all denominations to suspend mass services and, as an alternative, provide video broadcasts from places of worship on Ukrainian TV channels and through the Internet,” the official said. He noted that the situation with the incidence of COVID-19 in Kyiv is "still upsetting" and hopes for support and understanding from the religious communities.

Mondrievsky also stressed that the decision to weaken the strict restrictions of the Kyiv authorities will take into account the dynamics of morbidity and the occupancy of beds in hospitals.

As reported, the hard lockdown was extended in Kyiv until April 30.
