MP Sovsun said that officials and MPs talked about LGBT rights "in the context of European integration and with the participation of European partners".

On 15 February 2024, a round table dedicated to LGBT rights was held at the Foreign Ministry," MP Inna Sovsun said on Facebook. She emphasised that this was not an ordinary event.

"We talked at the Foreign Ministry about partnerships! With the participation of three deputy ministers, the first Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, almost a dozen MPs. This is not a typical round table but a transition to another level of discussion," Sovsun emphasised.

She cited the figures of some social surveys, according to which allegedly "73% of Ukrainians believe that LGBT+ people should be protected from discrimination and that 59% of Ukrainians support partnerships for LGBT+ couples." She said it was these studies that "influenced the government and servants of the people"

Sovsun said the participants "discussed the implementation of European law provisions in Ukrainian legislation".

"The greatest attention was paid to Bill No. 9103 – on registered partnerships and No. 5488 - on hate speech and hate crimes. What is important is that they talked about it exactly in the context of European integration and with the participation of European partners," said the MP.

As earlier reported, on 15 February Greece adopted a law on same-sex marriage.
