The OCU Synod has decided to "remove from the church calendar" the day of remembrance of Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky.

On February 2, 2024, the OCU Synod decided to exclude Saint Alexander Nevsky, the Prince of Kiev and Novgorod, from the list of saints, as reported by the OCU website.

"Remove from the Church calendar of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine the day of remembrance of the Righteous Prince Alexander (Nevsky) of Novgorod, Alexius in the schema, on November 23," the text states.

Instead, on November 23, the OCU has chosen to celebrate the memory of another Alexander – the founder of the "Non-Sleeping" monastery, whose day of remembrance in the Church is usually observed on March 7.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Dumenko's words, patriots should abandon their "Russian" patron saint.
