MP: Zelensky's power is not aware of church issue as much as Poroshenko’s
Rostislav Pavlenko believes that state agents under Zelensky often support the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
On March 18, 2021, MP from the European Solidarity Party Rostislav Pavlenko in an interview with Saken Aimurzaev said that under the current President Vladimir Zelensky, the “church issue” is not understood as well as it was under the previous President Petro Poroshenko.
Aimurzaev noted that Pavlenko "has always been and is engaged in the church issue" and asked the latter how the topic of religion is relevant within the walls of the current Verkhovna Rada.
Answering this question, Pavlenko emphasized that it is necessary to speak not about the Verkhovna Rada, but about the Office of the President of Ukraine, “where, unfortunately, we do not have the same level of understanding of religious issues, freedom of religion and protection from using the Church by the Russian aggressor for waging a hybrid war ... this understanding is many times less than it was under President Poroshenko."
Instead, Pavlenko says, "we often see government officials playing to support the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate."
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Rostislav Pavlenko accused the Congress of the persecuted communities of an attempt on state security.
