Head of Phanar assures Tomos was not dictated by geopolitics
Patriarch Bartholomew believes that the Tomos cannot be assessed from the point of view of national or geopolitical interests.
On March 6, 2021, Patriarch Bartholomew, at a meeting with a Ukrainian delegation consisting of representatives of the Servant of the People Party and diplomats, said that the granting of the Tomos to the OCU was not dictated by geopolitics, the Greek website Romfea reports.
The head of Phanar, addressing the Ukrainian delegation, said that the granting of the Tomos to the OCU "was not an act dictated by external forces or geopolitical interests."
According to Patriarch Bartholomew, the granting of the Tomos to the OCU should be assessed outside personal and outside national interests, but only "as a true spiritual therapy".
The head of Phanar also assured that "the Ecumenical Patriarchate will always rush to help and support various Local Orthodox Churches when they face trials."
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Mike Pompeo confessed to interfering in the internal religious affairs of Ukraine, and Joe Biden promised to continue cooperation with Patriarch Bartholomew and said that "we need your guidance.”
