ROC head: Migrants threaten the spiritual core of the Russian world
Patriarch Kirill believes that the influx of migrants is dangerous for the "state-forming" Russian people.
On 28 November 2023, at the World Russian People's Council, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill spoke about the danger to the Russian Federation from migrants,” report "Izvestia".
According to him, "erroneous migration policy can lead to the saddest consequences for the Russian world and Russia as its spiritual and cultural core."
"The idea that migrants are a competitive labour force is now popular in the public space, so society must come to terms with the consequences of the virtually unrestricted importation of foreign labour," the head of the ROC said.
He believes that migrants pose a danger to the "state-forming" Russian people.
"The massive influx of emigrants who do not speak Russian, who do not have a proper understanding of Russian history and culture, of our traditions and customs, and therefore are unable – and often unwilling – to integrate into Russian society, changes the image of Russian cities and leads to the deformation of the unified legal, cultural, linguistic space of the country. The value of profit cannot be higher than the value of a state that is ready to defend the interests of the state-forming people," he said.
As earlier reported, the Mufti of Moscow criticised the words of the head of the Russian Orthodox Church about Islamic migrants.
