Drabinko about His Beatitude: Not pro-Ukrainian, only Holy Scripture
"Metropolitan" of the OCU Alexander Drabinko noted that His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry does not need a passport, since he is a "citizen of heaven".
On January 6, 2021, the "Metropolitan" of the OCU, Alexander Drabinko, announced that the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, is guided in life exclusively by Holy Scripture and has no national consciousness. The "hierarch" of the OCU told about this in Ostap Drozdov’s program "Position".
Drabinko stressed that the UOC "is administered in an archaic style ... because" a native of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, Metropolitan Onuphry comes from Bukovyna."
According to the “hierarch” of the OCU, “these people (people from Bukovyna – Ed.) have no special Ukrainian roots”.
He said that after the war, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry entered the Moscow Theological Seminary, Academy at the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. Drabinko stressed that "the education (Metropolitan Onuphry – Ed.) received is absolutely ... I would not say that it can be pro-Ukrainian."
According to him, the Primate of the UOC is “a man of the globe ... He sees everything through the prism of Holy Scripture,” and he “lacks national consciousness”.
According to Drabinko, such a worldview characterizes His Beatitude Onuphry from the negative side.
“Well, there is a passport, but there is no need to have it, since ‘we are citizens of heaven’,” concluded “metropolitan” Alexander ironically.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Drabinko revealed he had transferred the parishes of the UOC into the OCU "not quite canonically".
