His Beatitude Onuphry awards Metropolitan Luke Order of St. Job of Pochayiv
The Metropolitan of Zaporozhia and Melitopol was awarded a high church award by the Kyiv Metropolitanate.
On December 30, 2020, the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, presented Metropolitan Luke (Kovalenko) of Zaporizhia and Melitopol with the Order of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in honor of St. Job, Abbot of Pochayiv, II degree, the press service of the Zaporizhia Diocese reports.
The diocese recalled that this year is significant for Vladyka Luke: December 23, 2020 marked the 10th anniversary of the day when by the decision of the Holy Synod of the UOC he was appointed governor of the Zaporizhia Eparchy.
“These years have passed in labors to the Glory of God and the Church of Christ,” the diocesan press service said in a statement. “They flew by unnoticed, but the fruits of the labors of both the ruling bishop personally and the clergy and flock entrusted to him are visible everywhere. The Zaporizhia diocese was transformed, strengthened, and rendered tremendous assistance in almost all areas: both spiritual and social."
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the Primate of the UOC had awarded Metropolitan Mitrofan of Lugansk and Alchevsk with the Order of Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, I degree.
