After Dumenko okays cannabis, Golos party initiates its legalization
The positive assessment by the head of the OCU as for legalizing the drug encouraged MPs from "Golos" to submit a corresponding bill to the Verkhovna Rada.
Parliamentarian of the Golos party Kira Rudik wrote on her Facebook page that after the statement by the head of the OCU Epiphany about the possibility of legalizing cannabis in Ukraine, the Golos party registered a bill in the Rada, allowing the use of cannabis for medical purposes.
“Medicinal cannabis is often the only way to relieve pain and suffering. Cannabis has no severe side effects like morphine or codeine, which have long been legalized in Ukraine. It is impossible to continue to indulge the abstract fears of society about the risks of ‘weed’ when it comes to human life and health," the MP said.
Access to medical cannabis in military rehabilitation centers will also reduce the number of suicides among the military, Rudik is confident.
According to her, Ukraine takes into account the world experience of using hemp-based medicines for treatment. In 2019, the International Narcotics Control Board noted the need to ensure the availability of cannabis for medical and research purposes, in 2020 the UN excluded medical cannabis from the category of the most dangerous drugs. The medical use of cannabis is legal in 60 countries around the world.
Recall that on December 19, the head of the OCU Epiphany, in an interview with Radio Svoboda (Liberty), said that he didn’t mind the legalization of cannabis in Ukraine.
As the UOJ previously reported, the Georgian Church calls for the withdrawal of the bill on marijuana cultivation.
