The draft decision to restrict the activities of the UOC in Ukraine was filed by the European Solidarity Party.

On 15 September 2023, Poltava City Council deputies called on Verkhovna Rada and Volodymyr Zelensky to limit the activities of the UOC in Ukraine, reports "Espreso".

The decision, the draft of which was submitted by the European Solidarity party, was supported by 26 out of 27 MPs.

Secretary of the City Council Kateryna Yamshchikova said that she would like to ban the activities of the UOC-MP on the territory of the community.

"I would like us to ban UOC’s activities in general in our territorial community, as other communities do. We should already submit this proposal and not overload the Cabinet of Ministers so that the community takes responsibility. Not to vote an appeal to someone, but to do it independently," she said.

As earlier reported, Poltava MPs asked the Rada to limit the work of denominations with the governing centre in the Russian Federation.
