Kyiv court extends restrictions imposed on Lavra abbot
The prosecutor demanded that Metropolitan Pavel be banned from visiting the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, but the court rejected this request.
The lawyer of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Archpriest Nikita Chekman said that on 11 August 2023, the Solomyanskyi District Court of Kyiv extended the validity of procedural obligations imposed on the abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Metropolitan Pavel released on bail but "not more than for two months", reports hromadske.ua.
"The term of commitment was extended within the period of pre-trial investigation, but for no more than two months," the lawyer told hromadske.ua.
According to Archpriest Nikita, the prosecutor also demanded that Metropolitan Pavel be banned from visiting the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, but the court rejected the request.
Metropolitan Pavel is obliged to wear an electronic bracelet, not to leave the locality in which he is registered without notifying the investigator, to appear for testimony upon the first request, and to refrain from communicating with victims and witnesses.
As previously reported, the SBU reminded that the Lavra abbot should not "communicate with victims".
