It is proposed to make 22 October a day off, as "in highly developed countries".

On 7 August 2023, the Verkhovna Rada registered Bill 9574 on the introduction of a new holiday "Thanksgiving Day", which proposes to make 22 October a day off.

The author of the bill, MP Georgiy Mazurashu, proposes to "raise gratitude to a national level (as it is done in some highly developed countries), when each person will have an official opportunity to give thanks to all those whom he wishes to do so".

The author does not specify whom exactly and for what it is necessary to thank.

The explanatory note says that it is necessary to appoint this holiday on 22 October, because it is "the autumn season, rich in the harvest of fruit and vegetables". Therefore, it "will contribute to the introduction of the tradition of celebrating this holiday at the festive (family) table".

Based on these arguments, the MP proposes to make 22 October a day off.

As earlier reported, Zelensky signed the law on the cancellation of Christmas celebrations on 7 January.
