MP Zhelezniak says that the Minister of Culture will be sent to resign by a vote in the Verkhovna Rada.

The Committee on Humanitarian Policy did not support the resignation of the Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko, reports a committee member, MP from the "Eurosolidarity" party Mykola Kniazhytsky.

Kniazhytsky said he voted in favour of Tkachenko's resignation together with committee members Volodymyr Vyatrovych, Sofia Fedina and Geo Leros. "The rest of the committee members were against it," the MP wrote.

However, Holos MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak said that this vote would not prevent the disgraced minister from being sacked. There have already been many cases when before the resignation of a minister, the profile committee does not make a recommendation but puts the decision before the session hall, he emphasised.

"Therefore, the decision by the Humanitarian Committee paves the way for bringing the issue to the session hall. In the plenary hall, Mr Tkachenko will be dismissed," wrote the MP.

On 20 July, President Volodymyr Zelensky offered the head of the Government to find a replacement for the Minister of Culture Tkachenko. According to the President, during the war, the maximum attention of the state and resources should be directed to defence needs. And extrabudgetary funds should be sought for cultural projects.

As reported, Tkachenko submitted his resignation after the President's statement.
