Reserve: Registration of monks in Lavra done with violations
The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Reserve stated that the registration of monks on the monastery's territory is a violation, but they currently do not plan to take it to court.
Ivan Prokopenko, the head of the Legal Department of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Reserve, stated that the registration of monks in the monastery was allegedly carried out with violations, reports "Suspilne".
According to him, "for the registration of any individual in any premises, permissions for the use of the property must be provided," and only the Reserve can issue such permissions.
He also noted that from 2014 to 2018, the Pechersk District Administration of Kyiv registered 72 people in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
According to the Lavra's lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, the registration of monks in the monastery is not a violation.
Fr. Nikita explained that the premises of the Lavra were handed over for use to the Monastery, including for the monks' residence.
"What is a cell? A cell is a dwelling, it is a room. Therefore, I do not see any violation that people have the right to stay in this accommodation and register themselves to have the appropriate registration in Kyiv as citizens," he said.
As previously reported, the Lavra's lawyer stated that the defence will appeal the illegal sealing of the premises in court.
