Ministry of Culture to digitize 15,000 objects of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra
The Deputy Minister of Culture is confident that the digitization of the objects of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is a good means of preserving Ukraine's heritage.
The American company Digital Transitions will provide the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine with equipment for digitizing objects and various documents held by the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, reports the Ministry of Culture's press service.
The ministry noted that they plan to digitize 15,000 objects of the Reserve, including flat paintings, icons from the Lavra icon-painting workshop, carved wooden clichés, engravings, and plans and drawings dating back to the 17th-19th centuries.
According to Deputy Minister of Culture Anastasiya Bondar, the results of the Lavra digitization project will be presented at a special event:
"We must use digitization as a means of preserving our heritage, as well as expanding its accessibility and popularization in the world. I am grateful to our partners at Digital Transitions for providing the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra with the opportunity to preserve, develop, and embrace digital technologies," she says. "I express sincere gratitude to all the employees of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra who continue their work and implement such a significant project, the results of which, I hope, we will soon be able to see at a special event."
As reported, the Minister of Culture, Oleksandr Tkachenko, stated that he has imbued the Lavra with the Ukrainian meaning laid down by its creators.
