The fulfillment of God's commandments helps us become spiritually healthy and makes us partakers of eternal life, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry reminded.

We must obey all commandments of God, even if we do not like some of them or we do not understand them, said the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphty of Kyiv and All Ukraine, during a sermon on August 30, 2020, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.

“Perhaps we do not quite understand them, but we must fulfill them,” said the Archpastor, urging believers to obey God’s commandments. “Like patients who do not quite like the procedures, we have to take them. Otherwise, the patient will not become healthy."

The Primate emphasized that "God is the God of the living, everything that is connected with God is life, and everything that He commands us to do is the commandments of life".

“Anyone who tries to live according to these commandments becomes a partaker of eternal life. They themselves become the source of the living water, which flows into eternal life. Other people can also drink from this source. But to become such a source of life, we ourselves must be connected through the Divine law with the eternal source of life – with our God, Savioгr and Creator. May the Lord help us live according to His holy laws so that we will be blessed by God on earth and in Heaven receive eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven," concluded His Beatitude Onuphry.

As reported, on August 30, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry performed a prayer service for students and teachers at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra before the beginning of the new academic year.
