Dumenko and Yelensky open exhibition in Lavra’s Refectory Church

According to the organizers’ plan, the exposition dedicated to the places of worship of different religions that suffered from the war will operate throughout the year.

The head of the OCU, Epifaniy Dumenko, and the head of the State Ethnic Policy, Viktor Yelensky, opened an exhibition in the Refectory Church of Saints Anthony and Theodosius in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The exhibition is dedicated to temples and sacred buildings of different religions that suffered during the war in Ukraine, the DESS press service reports.

The exhibition was organized by the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve and other museum institutions with the participation and assistance of the OCU.

The exposition entitled "... But they will be reborn in glory and power", arranged in an Orthodox shrine, talks about destroyed and damaged churches, chapels, prayer houses, roadside crosses, khachkars, "kingdom halls", synagogues, mosques, memorials, religious educational institutions .

During the opening of the exhibition, Viktor Yelensky also spoke about the seizure of the OCU Cathedral in Simferopol. According to him, the invaders "broke down the doors of the temple, described the property, expelled representatives of the religious community." The head of the State Ethnic Policy did not mention the numerous raider seizures of the UOC churches, accompanied by breaking down doors and violence against the clergy and parishioners of the largest denomination in the country.

The DESS press service notes that the exhibition will operate throughout the year.

As the UOJ reported, on January 23, 2023, a concert of the "Khorea Kozatska" group was held in the Refectory Church. On February 26, Forgiveness Sunday, the Ministry of Culture used the facade of the closed Dormition Cathedral of the Lavra as one of the locations for an art tour by Swiss artist Gerry Hofstetter.
