Politologist: Confrontation over Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to resume after court
The relations between the monastery and the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Reserve have moved to the legal-administrative plane.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnyk said in a commentary to Strana that the situation around the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra "has moved to the legal-administrative plane" and "routinized", which, in his opinion, is not accidental.
He believes that passions have subsided for a while – until the court decides on the right of the UOC to remain in the Lower Lavra.
"It is possible that a new round of confrontation between the UOC and the authorities will begin after the judgment. It is difficult to say what it will result in," the expert commented.
As reported, the court postponed until 19 May the hearing of the Lavra's lawsuit against the Reserve for invalidation of the break of the lease agreement.
