We bow our heads before those who died so that we can enjoy the beauty of this life, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry emphasized.

On May 9, 2020, the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine congratulated everyone on Victory Day over Nazism in World War II and bowed before those who died defending the Fatherland. The UOJ published the video of the congratulation of His Beatitude Onuphry’s congratulation on its YouTube channel.

“Today we bow our heads to those warriors and leaders who laid their lives on the battlefield, who gave their lives for us to live so that we do not become slaves, people of the fourth and fifth sorts. So that we can enjoy the beauty of this life, this world, what God gave us for our living,” the Primate emphasized.

He also reminded the flock that it was pride that drove the evil force that the fallen during the years of World War II defeated at the cost of their lives.

“Fascism is an extreme form of social pride that leads people to self-destruction. And this was shown by a vivid example that occurred 75 years ago when a mighty power, armed to the teeth, was defeated by modest forces, modest military potential but the strong spirit,” said His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.

The Primate of the UOC wished veterans health and comfort from God, and all people to be kind and worthy of the sacrifice made for the sake of peace on earth by the defenders of the Fatherland during World War II.

On May 9, the Primate laid flowers at the Eternal Flame in the Park of Eternal Glory and prayed for the dead defenders of the Fatherland.
