UOC delivers 3,500 COVID-19 tests to Chernivtsi
The Chernivtsi Regional State Administration noted that the assistance provided will help to more effectively combat the spread of coronavirus infection in the region.
The Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church donated 3,500 high-precision reaction tests for COVID-19 identification to the Chernivtsi Regional Laboratory Center, the website of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration reports.
“Such assistance will give us the opportunity to do more tests and, accordingly, focalize a larger number of detected cases of the coronavirus,” said Natalya Gusak, deputy head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration. “There is a certain deficit today in the whole world and in the state of all these things that we urgently need – equipment, tests, personal protectors. Therefore, we are very happy about every act of assistance, because we are able to effectively continue our work. We are grateful to everyone who joins and supports us at this time.”
The Chernivtsi Regional State Administration added that the tests, which were transferred by the UOC to the region, had been purchased by Vadim Novinsky’s International Charitable Foundation in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, noting that it was not for the first time that the MP had helped Bukovina in difficult times.
Recall that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church delivered 100,000 tests for COVID-19 diagnosis, purchased by Vadim Novinsky’s Holy Protection International Charitable Fund, to all regions of Ukraine. The distribution of the equipment and protective means in the regions was organized by the Ministry of Health and the Coronavirus Epidemic Headquarters at the Office of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
Earlier, the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine delivered to Chernivtsi medical equipment for combating coronavirus – an artificial respirator and overalls for doctors who are struggling with COVID-19.
