Primate: We observe sanitary norms and temples will be opened
In light of the coronavirus, the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, addressed the people.
On March 27, 2020, the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, addressed the believers due to the coronavirus and said that temples would be opened.
“The temples during this epidemic are a place where a person is pacified, where a person finds solace for himself. Therefore, the temples will not close,” cited His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry the YouTube channel “Morning with Inter”.
The Primate emphasized that the Church complies with all sanitary standards and regulations of the WHO and the authorities.
He also recommended that those who wish to confess or receive the Holy Communion should first arrange with the clergyman about the time of visiting the temple.
“Now we are going through a difficult time. We are struck by the tribulation. An infectious disease called the coronavirus is sweeping the world. Therefore, I urge, as the prophet Jeremiah once did: be patient, repent and pray,” His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry addressed the parishioners.
The Primate also urged believers to trust in God and rectify their lives.
“Our sins are the cause of what has happened to us,” he reminded the flock.
Earlier, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry blessed to pray fervently for doctors at the liturgy.
