The UOC handed over to the Regional Children Clinical Hospital in Chernivtsi a lung ventilator and a set of workwear for physicians who are struggling with coronavirus.

On March 25, 2020, the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine and the founder of the Charity Fund in honor of the Holy Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, MP of Ukraine Vadim Novinsky, delivered medical equipment to fight against the coronavirus in Chernivtsi. This was reported on the page of Novinsky press center on Facebook.

The Chernivtsi Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, in the infectious ward of which 14 out of 15 patients are ill with coronavirus, received a modern mechanical ventilation device from the hands of the Primate. This device can provide emergency care to 2 patients at the same time.

According to the head physician of the Chernivtsi Regional Children's Hospital, Roman Andriychuk, this expensive high-class apparatus for providing intensive care by modern standards was extremely necessary for his hospital. Now it will be possible to equip the intensive care unit to the required scale of medical items, which will enable to fully provide young patients with the necessary assistance, Andriychuk explained.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry and Novinsky also transferred 100 reusable protective water-repellent suits and 100 pairs of glasses for medical personnel to the Chernivtsi Regional Children's Hospital.

The head of the UOC thanked Vadim Novinsky’s Charity Fund for helping to acquire strategically important medical equipment.

“Our best human qualities are manifested in these trials: our love for each other, our patience for each other, and, of course, our help to each other <...>,” His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry emphasized. “We want the Lord to help everyone. We especially pray for the doctors who are now at the forefront of this problem, this struggle of mankind against the epidemic.”

In response, Novinsky noted the contribution of the UOC to the fight against the coronavirus and emphasized that trouble can only be overcome together.

“Accept this feasible contribution from our Church. By the way, such protective masks necessary today are already sewn in sewing workshops of the UOC. The tribulation has no boundaries, no language, no other distinctions. It hurts everyone, and if there is such an opportunity, we should help all Ukrainians – in Kherson, Chernivtsi, and in temporarily uncontrolled territories,” the parliamentarian said. “By joint efforts and with God's help, we will overcome this adversity. But let's remember that the main vaccine against any virus is prayer.”

Earlier, the Primate of the UOC blessed to offer specific prayers for doctors at public worship.
