Spokesman for Patriarch in Jordan: We pray that God will preserve Orthodoxy
Archimandrite Benedict hopes that the meeting in Amman will allow hearing the Primates’ common opinion on the future development of the Church.
On February 26, 2020, the representative of the Patriarch of Jerusalem in Jordan, Archimandrite Benedict (Kayal) said in an interview with the UOJ that the participants of the meeting in Amman are asking God to preserve the unity of Orthodoxy.
According to the priest, Orthodox believers in Jordan are very happy and it is an honor for them that “here are the leaders of the Churches invited by the Patriarch of Jerusalem. This is a joy for our entire country”.
When asked whether he had ever been to Ukraine, Archimandrite Benedict answered in the negative but emphasized that he had a desire to visit the country.
According to him, "Ukraine is an Orthodox country, we all love it, pray for it that God will sanctify the people, be with it and preserve the unity of the Orthodox Church."
He also expressed hope that the meeting in Amman would allow us “to hear from the leaders of the Churches their common opinion, their view on the future development of the Church”.
Addressing the Ukrainians, Archimandrite Benedict wished them unity, so that they would preserve Orthodoxy, "so that they would never allow separation, that God would save Ukraine and Ukrainians and the Orthodox flag would always be high".
As reported earlier, according to Bishop Irinej (Bulovic) of Bačka), the problems of loss of unity in Orthodoxy are the result of the actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
