Abbot of the Kiev-Caves Lavra meets with UNESCO representatives
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Directorate of the National Historical and Cultural Kiev-Caves Reserve and the Ministry of Culture.
On February 13, 2020, the abbot of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Caves Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, met with UNESCO representatives, the monastery’s website reported.
The meeting was attended by the representative of the monitoring mission of the UNESCO / ICOMOS World Heritage Centre, Icomos Hungarian National Committee President Tamás Fejérdy, program specialist for Central, Eastern and Southeast Europe Anna Sidorenko, as well as representatives of the Directorate of the National Historical and Cultural Kiev-Caves Reserve and the Ministry of Culture Ukraine.
“During the conversation, topical issues of relationships and prospects for work between all participants in the meeting were discussed,” the message said.
Vladyka Pavel thanked the guests for the constructive dialogue, wished God's help in the work to preserve the cultural and spiritual heritage, and presented memorable gifts. At the end of the meeting, guests were offered a tour of the monastery.
As reported earlier, the UNESCO special monitoring mission, which checks the status and protection of historical sites, is checking the Kiev-Caves Lavra and St. Sophia’s Cathedral.
