Metropolitan Chrysostomos promised to do everything possible to "properly resolve the issue".

On September 26, 2019, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Greece Sergey Shutenko met with the head of the Canon Law Committee of the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church, reports the Greek online resource “Romfea”.

As reported, during the meeting, the ambassador "conveyed the will of the Ukrainian people to resolve the ecclesiastical issue".

Metropolitan Chrysostomos assured him that he would do his utmost to resolve the matter properly, stressing that any delay would only be “detrimental to Orthodoxy”.

Sergey Shutenko on the Embassy's Facebook page stated that he had discussed with the hierarch of the Greek Church "a wide range of issues related to the recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine".

Earlier, Sergey Shutenko had had a talk on the recognition of the OCU with another Greek bishop, Chairman of the Inter-Orthodox Committee of the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Ignatius of Dimitriada.
