A landmark decision of St. Prince Vladimir was to adopt Christianity, so today the vast majority of Ukrainians are Christians, explained the UOC Spokesman.

On July 27, 2019, on air of NewsOne TV channel, Deputy Head of the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC, Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich, spoke about the great responsibility of the people, whose decisions determine the fate of other people.

“The fateful decision of St. Prince Vladimir was to adopt Christianity, so today the vast majority of Ukrainians are Christians. He gave an opportunity to others – and we canonized him not so much for his personal life as for his landmark decision – to live a Christian life, enlightened with the light of faith.

People, whose decisions have an impact on the fate of other people, have a huge responsibility. Today we are celebrating the memory of Prince Vladimir. His decision was to adopt Christianity, so today the vast majority of Ukrainians are Christians. He gave an opportunity to others – and we canonized him not so much for his personal life as for his point-turning decision – to live the Christian life, enlightened with the beam of faith," said the priest.

The UOC Spokesman recalled that the Lord would call a person and especially those vested with power to account, particularly for committing the sins and wrong decisions having affected other people.

"This, of course, does not mean that if a person rose to a high position, he cannot do whatever he wants in his personal life, but every decision, every step of such a person, if they contribute to the public good, are awarded by the Lord. I want to say to the heads, presidents and directors of corporations and various well-established organizations – their words and actions will be subject to the judgment of the Lord," he concluded.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that year by year, the number of participants in the festivities on the occasion of the anniversary of the Baptism of Rus is on the rise, this year numbering 300,000 believers who had gathered for prayer.

The UOJ also made live updates of the Cross Procession of the UOC.
