Representatives of the President are unsuccessfully trying to delay litigation on Petro Poroshenko’s interference in church affairs, said lawyer Maxim Mogilnitsky.

Neither President Petro Poroshenko, nor his representatives appeared at the preliminary hearing on a claim for the interference of the head of State in the activities of the Church.

"Very busy. That is, traditionally, they tried to delay the process," Maxim Mogilnitsky, head of the "Mogilnitsky & Partners" law firm, wrote on his Facebook page. "The court was requested to postpone the preliminary hearing. However, this time the court refused the President’s application, and the preliminary hearing was held without the participation of Mr Poroshenko. ”

According to Mogilnitsky, the Kiev District Administrative Court schedules a trial for 16:00 on February 26.

“Since our claim is simple, understandable and does not require the collection of additional evidence, I hope to receive a judicial verdict at the next session,” the lawyer added.

The Kiev District Administrative Court accepted the claim of the NGO “Rule of Law” on December 1. It says that the President is not entitled to interfere in church affairs and apply on behalf of all Orthodox Christians for granting autocephaly to Ukraine. In court, the interests of the organization are represented by "Mogilnitsky & Partners".

Representatives of the Presidential Administration also ignored the previous court hearing on December 5.
