Uniates claim that UOC church in Kolomyia now belongs to them
Representatives of the UGCC announced that the conflict around the Annunciation Church in Kolomyia is exhausted, the church is now theirs, and they intend to turn it into a "spiritual pysanka".
The Uniates say that a new community of the UGCC has appeared and Andrey Tanasiychuk has already been appointed the rector of the church, reports dzerkalo.media.
"Father Andrey graduated from the Roman Catholic seminary in Warsaw," the edition reports. "In Rome, he defended two doctoral theses. Today, despite the priestly duties in Kolomyia, he teaches canon law at the Institute of Ecumenical Sciences in Venice."
The social medium cited the newly appointed rector: «Vladyka called me and said, "I want this church to become a spiritual pysanka of Kolomyia." This century-prayerful church should become an altar of unity, and not discord among Christians. I condemn the unreasonable calls of individual patriots to take away other people's temples. »
Meanwhile, on May 17, the representatives of the UOC sent an official request to the regional state administration to find out: on what grounds the church was transferred, if at all, to the jurisdiction of the UGCC.
On October 18, 2017, a group of chaplains of the UGCC, with the support of right-wing radical forces, seized the church in Kolomyia. To stop the clashes of believers, the police sealed the temple.
The UOJ is following the developments in Kolomyia.
