Orthodox Nativity proposed to be made a day-off in USA
Orthodox Christians of the USA urge to adopt a law to make Orthodox Nativity a day-off. Signatures under the corresponding petition are collected on the White House website, reports press service of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad.

Authors of the petition say that each year on January 7 Orthodox believers are forced to find an excuse for a day-off or take a medical certificate to attend the divine service. Students miss lectures, while representatives of other confessions have a legal leave.

Anyone can take part in the voting. For this one only needs to specify their personal data: name, surname and email address. At the time of publication, more than 150 people participated in the action. They need to collect 100,000 signatures till February 5.

There are parishes of various local Orthodox Churches and over a million Orthodox believers in the USA.
