Head of Kiev police: in Cross Procession there are no Pskov paratroopers

The head of Kiev police Andrei Krischenko noted that when the All-Ukrainian Cross Procession arrives in Kiev on July 27, in the protection of public order will be secured by joint efforts of the Kiev police and National Guard forces, reports Ukrinform.

"We now know that about 150 people are heading from the Svyatogorsk Lavra and about a thousand of believers – from the Ternopil region. We have full information about the people out there. So far there are neither Pskov paratroopers nor young men of athletic built in the procession. The overwhelming majority is adults: men and women who are make a pilgrimage on the occasion of the religious holiday - the Day of the Baptism of Ukraine-Rus," said Krischenko.

"The expected number of participants is about 20 thousand. This was stated by representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The majority of the participants in the Procession to be held in Kiev will be delivered centrally from the territory of Ukraine by bus," he clarified.

It is reported that the total number of police officers who will be used for law enforcement is about 2,500 people.
