UOC Public Affairs Manager Calls on the Authorities Not to Support "Gay Parades"
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church calls on the government not to support public events organized by the LGBT community in Kiev. This was stated by the Public Affairs Manager of the UOC, Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich), reports UNIAN.
The bishop noted that in recent years the so-called "fighters against discrimination" have increasingly speculated on the topic of European integration.
"The slogan of the European Union is "Unity in diversity ". Why should we blindly copy what contradicts thousand-year moral principles and traditions of our people? Obviously, it was more reasonable for us and Europeans to learn from each other all the good we have gained over the centuries," said Metropolitan Anthony.
The UOC Public Affairs Manager added that "European civilization was formed on the Christian basis, so true historical European values are morality and traditional family."
"A sin of unnatural relationship, which today is so aggressively "promoted" to the masses, is called sodomy. It is originated from the name of one of the Old Testament cities - Sodom and Gomorrah, where it was very common. When the measure of their iniquity was full, the Lord rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire. Now it's the bottom of the Dead Sea. I want to encourage everyone to think what fate we wish to our towns and cities and to our country," said the bishop.
Metropolitan Anthony also pointed out that in the last week of Lent adherents of sodomy increase their activity. In this regard, he wished the delusioned Christians to "enlighten themselves with the light of Easter Sunday and find hope for eternal life."
It is on Easter days when the LGBT community in Kiev plans to hold the so-called "Festival of equality".
